Midweek Sailing, Lake Maumelle Style
For the third year in a row, Neal Zeman is hosting Tiller Time, GMSC’s easygoing Wednesday evening sailing get-together on Lake Maumelle. Held from 5:00 PM to twilight, Tiller Time gives members a chance to get on the water, build confidence at the helm, and enjoy some midweek time at the club.
New sailors are especially welcome. Members can drop in, rig up, and sail at their own pace, with volunteers available to help with setup and offer guidance before heading out. When the breeze cooperates, the evening often turns into a few informal short-course races—just enough to add a little extra fun and sharpen skills along the way.
There’s no fee and no pressure. Just sign in when you arrive, bring a snack or drink if you like, and enjoy a relaxed evening of sailing and camaraderie under the pavilion. It’s one of the simplest ways to spend more time on the water and connect with other club members.
