After-Race Social on November 16, 2025: Hang Out, Warm Up and Toast the Day!
The weather is predicted to be beautiful tomorrow – sunny, warm and with a little wind! This could be one of the best keelboat race days of the Fall!
After the races, let’s gather at the Club House for some after-race socializing—snacking, sipping, and spinning wild tales of our racing heroics (some of which might even be remotely based on actual events).
Don’t forget, there’s a sign-up form on the website now if you want to bring some tasty snacks for everyone to enjoy! Link Below:

For tomorrow (Nov 16), we are looking for a volunteer host. Anyone interested?! You could always recruit others to pitch in and bring light bites. Please text Mary at 501-804-7578 if you are available.
More about After-Race Social Host – Volunteer Responsibilities for Hosting an After-Race Social:
What does this involve? As a host, you’ll set up a friendly, inviting environment where sailors can relax after their race. It’s an enjoyable, low-stress position, and you won’t be alone—most attendees are glad to help, and you can always ask someone to co-host with you.
Here’s what you’ll do:
- Arrive early (usually around 4:30) so you can open the clubhouse and prepare for when the fleet returns. It helps to stay in touch with someone on the racecourse for updates about timing.
- Provide snacks for approximately 30 guests - This can include light bites, appetizers, pizza, or desserts, etc. Set up drinks and refreshments; although most guests bring their own beverages, feel free to offer additional options.
- Use the club’s budget for expenses ($100 per race day) - just remember to keep your receipts.
- Make the space cozy by lighting the fire, setting out plates and napkins, and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere.
- Do some light cleaning afterwards - wipe down the kitchen counters and tidy up. Most people will help clean up without needing to be asked.
